AAC - Repackaging everything in 64 bit mode

I have AAC working perfectly with 3 VMs hosted on a ESX server. My VMs run Windows7 64bit. We only have 64bit in our environment. So I have 4 packages (32 bit apps) that I have set up to repackage automatically. The problem is the resulting repackaged MSIs are 64bit. Is there a way to set it where the resulting repackaged MSI is the same as the source. If the source is 32bit, i want the repackaged MSI to be 32bit, and the same if its 64bit?

InstallShield Limited Edition in VS2010 Polish setup language

Hi,


I use InstallShield Limited Edition in my Visual Studio 2010 Professional Solution. I don't know how to switch setup language to Polish. In the General Information Tab I have only the possibility to choose Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish.


Should I install additional language packs? I want to create installation wizard for my App only in Polish language.


Please help me.

Detecting previous installation path

Hi all :)

I have question for the following scenario:

I installed v1.0 of my application to a non-default installation path, e.g. c:\mycompany\mysoftware\
Whenever I install v2.0, it successfully un-install v1.0 from c:\mycompany\mysoftware\, but I then have to "manually" select that installation path again.

Is it possible to configure the installation file to automatically search for any previous non-default installation path, then install the latest version on the same path?

Mac OS code sign not working

I have IA 2012 SP1 installed on my Mac running OS X 10.8.4. I have both Developer ID Application and Developer ID Installer certificates imported in Keychain Access. In the project, the Code Signing option is enabled and both properties (PKCS #12 File and Keystore Password) populated. The problem is after downloading from a test site (IIS for example), it throws the error message below when GateKeeper is set to allow applications downloaded from Mac App Store and identified developers.

"install" is damaged and can't be opened. You should move it to the Trash

Am I missing something here? I thought the purpose of using this option is for the installer to pass this check from GateKeeper as the certificate is coming from an identified developer?

Has anyone successfully use this option? Any help will be great.

Uninstall: registry entry not get removed.

I have common ISM template. I have created 3 MSI using same ISM template but with different ProductName and ProductVersion and ComponentName. The component files are dynamic. The registry key path contains the ComponentName in the path (which is obviously different for all MSI) but get created under same <CompanyName>. The registry key can be considered as shared under <CompanyName>.

All 3 MSI installation went fine with proper file and registry entries. but when I uninstall any of the MSI, the registry key associated with it is not getting removed. The registry key is getting removed only for the last uninstalled MSI, for first 2 uninstalled MSI it is not getting deleted.

E.g.

MSI1: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\<CompanyName>\ABC\Component1
MSI2: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\<CompanyName>\ABC\Component2
MSI3: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\<CompanyName>\ABC\Component3

MSI1 uninstall, registry key Component1 not removed.
MSI2 uninstall, registry key Component2 not removed.
MSI3 uninstall, registry key Component3 removed..

Irrespective of order, the registry key is removed only for last uninstall. Changing registry install behavior "install if absent, uninstall if present" not helped.

Is there any way, or only CustomAction is the solution?

Installscript: Using c# Assembly with try catch does not work

Hi all,

I would like to use a c# assembly within InstallScript and I want to make it "save" using try-catch.
Here´s my installscript function:

Unfortunately the catch block does not catch anything.
I have two main exceptions to catch:
First if the assembly name and/or the class name is not correct at "CoCreateObjectDotNet"
and second if I call a method which is not existing or wrong written.
In my example the method "System_GetLocalAdminGroupName" is existing and works fine,
but the second method "InvalidMethod" is not existing and if I call this one I would like the catch block to catch the exception.
Both cases are not working!
All other cases I can handle inside my assembly by myself.

Any ideas about that?
