All Buttons Unclickable in Installer on Mac 10.6.8

Hello,

We have for many, many years used IA installers for Windows and Mac. We have had an issue with the Next button being disabled on Windows and turning off hardware acceleration did the trick. That was many years ago back in Win XP days. Now we are experiencing a number of customers, all with Mac 10.6.8 (latest version of Mac 10.6) and latest version of Java for that version of Mac (1.6.0_51) where none of the buttons on the installer are enabled or clickable. The Quit, Next, or X button are all not functioning. The Next button appears to be flashing - said one customer. Is this perhaps a hardware conflict? I don't see any display hardware acceleration settings on Mac. We use the latest version of IA 2012 to make the build. This has been a recent problem only... perhaps since 1.6.0_51 was released in June?

Any suggested solutions or advice for troubleshooting with our customers is greatly appreciated.

Conversion of .WSE files to InstallShield files.

We have several .wse files in our appliction. We have a licensed version of InstallShield Professional.

I heard that to convert from .wse files we need either InstallShield Premier or AdminStudio. Is that so?

Could someone please confirm.

SQL Scripts and Progress Bar

I am working on an InstallScript MSI package that uses 14 SQL Scripts to create the SQL Databases. They take from 30-60 minutes to complete. By the time that the first script is completed, the progress bar is at 100 percent. Is there a way to either configure the progress bar so that it does not complete until all of the script are done or is there a way to reset the progress bar between scripts.

I have been making good use of 'FEATURE[feature-name].actionState' for some time. Is there a way to make that more useful in the case of multiple releases such as:

FEATURE[feature-name[MyVariable]].actionState
or
FEATURE[feature-name[ReleaseName]].actionState

That way I could have one Custom Setup wizard page, instead of having one for each release.

Hi

In my basic MSI project let’s say I have feature A and B, now I want to create feature C that will include all components in feature A except for one component.
What is the best way to handle this ?

(I don’t want to associate all components in feature A also to the new one since in case I add new \ move components I will have to add it twice.)

Premier 2013 + Limited (2012 Spring) in the same Visual Studio solution

Hey guys,

Does anybody know if it is possible to run both limited (2012 spring) and premier 2013 editions on the same machine on the same VS2012 solution file?

I am running into various problems doing so in VS2010/2012:
  1. It is asking me to force upgrade my limited edition projects, which I don’t want to.
  2. 2. If I chose to repair my limited edition installation, those projects load in VS but premier project doesn’t.

Just want to know my options here? Should both projects load fine in visual studio at the same time? These problems started when I added my premier project to the solution. It appears that visual studio only supports one at the same time (either limited or premier) although both types appear in File>New>Project

Hi,

I am trying to check for admin rights. I have used InstallerProxy as advised(Dont know whether it is a correct way) in the help manual.(Calling Installshield MultiPlatform APIs in Install Anywhere). But still getting the error in Service class.

Hello..

i'm using simple msi, im using installshield to install service, i had set the user name as domain/username with password, after installing the service is running under Local Syatem, my entered user name and password have full permission on services.

i dont know what i'm missing please help...

Question about FlexNet Operations On-Demand product. How to get data from FlexNet?

Hello everyone,

I am working FlexNet Operations On-Demand product. I met some issue about Web Services API in FNOOD_IntergrationGuide document.

At Obtain and Edit WSDL part, I made like the way in tutorial show. But when I start code, the code generate don't like anything as this part show.
For instance, when I want to instance an object SubscribeNetPort, my wsdl refderence don't contain any object like that( I've just found an object like as: SubscribeNet). Something like that, with AccountReference object, I also can not find account.GetAccountName method.

My purpose is get data from objects on FlexNet Operations On-Demand to my database - SQL Server 2012. Anyone can help me some advice about this issue?

Recently finished up AdminStudio 2012 training and am preparing to install in our work environment. In the training materials, I've noted where our instructor recommended we go into InstallShield "Tools > Options", and on the "General" tab", under the "Build & ISSetAllUsers Action" section, deselect the option "Automaticall create ISSetAllUsers action". However, I failed to note WHY this was desirable, and wanted to ask for some insight from the community. Thanks.

Any plans for supporting for I/O Virtualization

In recent tests with a machine using Red Hat VirtIO Ethernet Adaptor driver we found that attempting to pull a license from Flexera publisher consistently fails. This appears to be by design.

Is this a documented limitation? I have not been able to find a link that specifically says this is not a supported environment.

Is this something that will be supported in the near future?

Hi.
I've packaged my WinForms app with the Visual Studio Installshield Limited Edition wizard. (I can't see a Installshield LE forum, but since it's with VS2012, I hope this is the correct forum).

When installing the app on a different PC, I get this error during installation.
Error 2715. The specified File key ('myappname.xml_serializa') not found in the File table.

What can this be?

Signing One-Click Install - Security Warning in different language

I'm currently testing InstallShield 2013 Premier, but the problems with signing One-Click Installations seem not fixed. I'm also still getting a InstallShield Security Warning in English. We have to ship our software to different countries with different languages so we pay a lot of money for IS Premier, but the dialog is still english only. I'm also currently getting a MessageBox (Header: test / Text: checksecurity) if I start the One-Click Setup, this looks like some debug information.

Is there any way to sign the Media Header? Signing the Setup.exe with pfx works, if I use spc and pvk I have to enter the CodeSigning password two times. Signing the Header does not prompt me to enter the password, it just builds the installation with Error Code -7270. The help page says: using Microsoft's SignCode.exe tool directly will provide a descriptive error message - I get:
SignTool Error: This file format cannot be signed because it is not recognized.
SignTool Error: An error occurred while attempting to sign: data1.hdr

I have an single exe file which calls multiple msi files (seven) during install. I would like to know your ideas on how to repackage this using AS. I need this to be deployed using single msi or exe file. I am trying to deploy this using silent install, but this does not work. any ideas

Win 8 Metro problem

I am using a IS-MSI project to install prerequisites.
After a reboot the installscript code keeps going on but the user is not aware of that because the reboot goes into the metro interface.
So is there a way from installscript code (or other) to automatically show the desktop?

I tried to launch a scf file with

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=%SystemRoot%\System32\imageres.dll,105
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

which works in windows but it doesn't with LaunchAppAndWait (name,"" ,WAIT);

any hint?

creating my first product update and have questions

hi all;

I have created and released my first full version installer, MyApp v1.0 as basic MSI project. Now I need to release MyApp v1.1 and I have several questions.

1) Should I create a whole new project in installshield for version 1.1 or should it just be changes to the project I already have going?

Assuming I am just modifying the existing project, and NOT creating a whole new project in installshield:
1) Will I ever be able to rebuild the original v1.0 installer if required?
2) v1.1 will have a new .exe and several new versions of .dll files, as well as completely new dll files. How do I handle this? Do I just delete the old versions in the project files view, and add in the new ones?
3) Do i configure a new release under the media view, or just do I just configure a minor/major upgrade item?

More questions to follow, depending on the answers so far!

Compatibility issue with SCCM 10.3

Hi everyone,

With the version Premier 2013, I have made a function in Custom Actions, I put this function in Install Exec Sequence after AppSearch.

When I generate a setup.exe and I execute it on my PC, it work fine.

When launch installation with Advanced Installer 10.3, an error message has written in logfile and the installation has cancelled.
The message : "CustomAction FunctionName returned actual error code 1603 (note this may not be 100% accurate if translation happened inside sandbox)."

Could you help me please to correct this error ?

LaunchAppAndWait function return code "Incorrect function"

I am trying to execute one command using LaunchAppAndWait , it does not do anything and getting return as "Incorrect function". what is the meaning of "Incorrect function", how to resolve this issue
