copy files during cancel/fatal error

Hi All,

I have a situation, to take some files and folders as backup and if any fatal error occures or if user canel the installation during the upgrade then i have to copy the same from backup. So, this can be in any time during install,post-install.

For taking the backup i am using the file/folder copy action by checking the maintenance rule but, i don't know how to copy the files from backup in different stages like install,post-install.

Please help me on this

Uninstaller title image customization

I want to replace default title image from Uninstaller (top left corner of Uninstaller window).
It was easy to replace it from Installer but I don't find a way to do it for Uninstaller.

exit codes are same for both sucess and failure cases

Hi,

I am calling sub-installer from master installer using execute command.

the sub-installer can be .exe or .msi installer.

when i am calling .exe using execute command,the exit code i am getting as '1' for both success and failure.

Can any body tell me why i am getting exit code '1' in both cases.

one serious thing is for .msi installers i am getting exit code as '0' when success where as for .exe installer getting exit code as '1' in case of success.


Can any body tell me where the documentation available for different exit codes.(in the manual they are not available).

What kind of gui are you talking about? You wanted to input these without wanting to launch the IA designer, so this is the way to do it. You can always launch the IDE and set the variables.

Black background color of the option/message area

On a new W7 machine where I installed my old InstallAnywhere 12, the background color of the options/message window (general UI Settings, Installer Background Image, Preview, right window) is black and messages are displayed in white during the installation of my application through InstallAnyWhere 12 installer. The problem is that texts of the checkbox options are written in black too, and thus they don't appear (only the buttons are visible, not the text in front of them when you are asked to choose a folder for the shortcut for example). How can we change the color of that background. Is this an InstallAnywhere parameter ? If so, i can't find it

How do I make the EULA appear before the setup prerequisites?

Is there any way to make the License Agreement the first or second dialog seen when installing? I need it to be before the setup prerequisites, not after. And changing the setup prereqs to be feature prereqs is not an option.

Any help and/or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

No installer for the IA2013 hotfix?

Seems odd to me that the application of the hotfix is a manual process and also that you can't download it through the update popup. Not a big deal but when you have to do it on multiple machines it is a bit of a pain. An installer that backs up a files and directories and then lays down new ones would be pretty easy to write. I know flexera has the technology.

Thanks to NigelM for pointing to at least "-nupd" option.
With this key, I was able to find this option for build.xml file which helps to prevent UpdateService invocation for each build.

Setup cannot set correct folder permission for %ProgramData%\MyApp on WinServer2012

There is my BasicMsi setup that installs an application (32bit) MyApp per-machine. The installer requires admin rights at startup. The application MyApp is installed into the INSTALLDIR-folder selected by the Operator (by UI/CommadLine) and a %ProgramData%\<MyFirm>\<MyApp> structure is created with subfolders and files. In the msi-table LockPermissions, permissions are set to modify (read/write/delete...) for folder <MyApp> for LOCAL user groups 'Administrators' and 'Users' (located by SID). Files in <MyApp> and subfolders are used and modified by the application MyApp at runtime. The setup installs the application on systems from Win7 to Win10 and from WinServer2003 to WinServer2016 (32/64; UAC on/off). The application is launched by the Operator(s) with account in the local user groups 'Administrators' or 'Users' (NOT 'Run as admin').

Problem: after installation on WinServer2012 and WinServer2016 ONLY (WinServer2008 is not checked; and WinServer2003 - IS OK) an Operator with account in the local group Administrators or Users does not have permissions to write/delete/create files in the folder <MyApp> and subfolders. The result - the application does not work correctly (ONLY for WinServer2012 and WinServer2016).

Help me, please, with Questions:
  • what is the difference in folders permissions under %ProgramData%, or what is the difference of rights of local built-in user groups ('Administrators' or 'Users') for Win10 (or WinServer2003) versus (WinServer2012 and WinServer2016) ?
  • what else should be changed in the system (WinServer2012 and WinServer2016) by the installer so that accounts from the local groups Administrators or Users have write/delete rights in the folder %ProgramData%\<MyFirm>\<MyApp> without 'Run as Administrator' (UAC on/off) ?

FlexnetManager Suite - Report Builder - Columns grayed out

Hi Flexera Team,
I've tried to build a customized report with the report builder which includes 11 different columns/field from 3 different objects.
Unfortunately, 2 out of 11 columns are grayed out on the configuration page and when I click on "preview & filter" those 2 columns don't appear in the report.
Any idea on how to solve this issue? Is there a max number of columns that I can add to report?

Hello,

I'm trying to build a .msi with repackager but the build is always failing. Those are the errors I get :
