InstallShield LE 2015 for VS2013 - Dynamic file linking

Hi

I didn't found the dynamic file linking option in IS 2015 LE, I saw that we can add Visual Studio projects output files dynamically to the Install Shield Setup for assemblies or executable. But If I want add .ico or help files to the setup I didn't find dynamic file linking option. Please help me resolving the issue.

hello i using InstallShield 2015 Limited Edition for Visual Studio 2012 and i build my x86 visual studio project with installshield
after i check installshield setup i get this

processorArchitecture="X86"
name="InstallShield.Setup"

but when i try to setup om project on 32 bit os i get error
This installation package is not supported by this processor type

please help me.

MSI cache

I'm kind of new to InstallShield and I mostly just use it for repackaging some apps for deployment through SCCM. Anyway, I noticed that the first time a user runs certain MSI based applications, the application tries to configure itself, and looks for the source MSI. If it's no longer in the ccmcache folder, it fails to run and asks to browse for the MSI source. I know many applications cache the MSI into folders such as C:\Windows\Installer or C:\ProgramData\Package Cache. How do I tell InstallShield to cache the MSI somewhere? The only setting I found is in the release section, but that only is for programs using setup.exe, and I try to make my installs as only MSI's. If there is a setting, is there a default or standard folder that the MSI should be cached to?

For SQL Database deploying in IS-2013, facing issue at time of setup project

I am new for IS. Some how I am able to manage/develop setup for website using IS-2103 but during setup I am facing issue when setup try to create database with table. Please find attached image of error.

I have develop this set up as per guidance of blog and support team blogs.

When I am running this setup on that machine where I have create this setup its working fine without any database but whenever added database it will create problem to setup.

Please provide support on urgent bases.

hide modify radio button of SdWelcomeMaint

Hi,

I am using Installshield 2015. I have project which is installscript msi. I am using/calling SdWelcomeMaint function which display 3 radio buttons as modify, repair and remove.
My requirement is I want to hide modify button and display only repair and remove radio buttons.

Is this possible? if so, what are the steps to do it?

Support for non-English characters in install path

Hi,

We need to support installation of our product into directories with unicode characters in the path ( non-English multi-byte). We are using IS 2013 and the installation summary shows '?????' as the install path and the installation fails when it tries to access the install path.

I read that the unicode support has been added since IS 2015. I am trying the IS 2016 trial version but the problem persists.

How do I enable the non-english character support in my Installer?

CustomCode ProgressAccess the progress percent number does not change

Hi,

I`m running a customCode to check some prerequisites on the machine, and using ProgressAccess. i`m able to see and change the progress bar but its number stuck on 0%

i`m using a loop with sleep to change the percentage

I have upgraded all my .ism files from 2009 to 2016 InstallShield. During Compilation i get the following errors.

High DPI and MSI

How are images supposed to be handled so high dpi machines look correct when running an msi installation? I have a basic msi installation I have been using for years and have upgraded the application to support high dpi. I see discussions about installscript and advanced ui, but not msi.

- Splash Screen (support files)- looks like all it supports is bmp. Can other files be added like image.dpi.png?
- Dialog banner images - Only bmp support?
- Internal images like the folder in the destination folder dialog - dsticon.ibd - why a ibd and not an ico where you can have multiple resolutions? What is special about an ibd anyway?

We have a high priority issue and needs to be fixes asap.

While creating set up projects in Visual Studio 2013 or 2015, VS 2013/2015 installs InstallShield 2015 limited edition. This in turn creates MSXML4.dll in %windir%\SYSWOW64 of the server where the software is installed.
Why does this happen? does InstallShield use MSXML4.dll? Is there an option not to allow MSXML4.dll from getting created?

I would highly appreciate if we get a quick response and resolution to the issue.

Hi there,

I have Windows 10 x64 bit machine, and I have installed InstallShield 2013 Standalone Build Service Pack 1 in it.
I am compiling my project (.ism file ) in this machine , So at some point while the build is running PC get rebooted , and it does not shows any error message in installshield log file. In system's Event log it shows an error that "the computer has rebooted from bugcheck "

Urgent!!!!! Error - License is already in use in different machine

Hi All,

In my project, I have been assigned with the task of relocating the admin studio license from one machine to another.
I have followed the steps as instructed in vendor site and returned the license from old machine.
Also I have ensured to format the old machine post uninstall.
However, when I try to register the license in new machine I receive the error stating license is already in use.
Can anyone please help me on this as this is affecting our business
