Uninstaller title image customization

I want to replace default title image from Uninstaller (top left corner of Uninstaller window).
It was easy to replace it from Installer but I don't find a way to do it for Uninstaller.
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Repackager (15.0.0.694) crashes during second snapshot

The Repackager (15.0.0.694, part of AdminStudio 2016) crashes when creating the second snapshot. (Multiple Steps repackaging method).

Repackaging a small product (+/- 66 files) succeeds but a large product (> 4500 files) gives a crash of the repackager. Repackaging
the large product with an older version of the Repackager succeeds without issues. I don't exactly know what number of files results
in a crash of the repackager. It's somewhere between 66 en 4500.

I tried different large products on different platforms (Windows 7, 32 bit and Windows 10, 64 bit) with the standalone repackager installation
and the complete AdminStudio 2016 (evaluation) installation but the Repackager keeps crashing. The three required C++ prereq's (2008,
2010 and 2012) are correctly installed.

Installation monitoring as snap technology works on the lager products but we prefer to use the "multiple steps" method.

Any idea how to solve this?

patch is not uninstallable

Hi,
i face to the issue:
warning Val0015: The CreateFolder table contains new content.
Therefore, if you are packaging this upgrade as a patch, you will not be
able to make it an uninstallable patch.

In my scenario, i need to build a service pack for a product. And in that
service pack, i need to deploy some new files to a new folder in
INSTALLDIR. So i create a new component for deployment. Therefor
installshield automaticly add some items to CreateFolder table. So when
complie the service pack configuration the warning above occurs.

I google and see the link

But in the Correction Action section, these action are not properly with me, since i want to user able to uninstall
my service pack and my service pack must to contains some new files in the new folder in the target.

So Could you please help me to build a service pack with my expection above?

copy files based on .net framework installed

hi team,

I am using Installshield 2015 with VS 2010 to build setup. I am building a small exe application which needed to be installed on win7,8 ,8.1 and 10 operating system.

by default .net framework 3.5 is enabled in windows 7 editions alone and .net framework 4.0 is enabled in windows 8,8.1 and 10 .

so in my installer i need to detect which framework is installed by default and copy the files needed to the program files folder.

Kindly help me how to achieve it.

Can't edit 'About Me' in Profile

When I click on the 'Edit Value' icon I immediately get this popup.

Second click does nothing until I go to another window and come back.

Display a finished message at end of Silent Install - Pure InstallScript project type

Hi,
InstallShield 2015 Premier - Pure Installscript project type.
I want to run the installer in silent mode.
I recorded a response file "setup.iss" and then ran it successfully for the silent install.

So far so good.

Now i want to display a message box/Finish dialog to the user to notify installation is complete even in silent install (yes I realize that it sounds like it is defeating the purpose of a silent install).
I tried changing the response file directly and I also tried a condition with MODE = SILENTMODE check at the end (to trigger the SdFinish dialog) but nothing seems to work.
I suppose I could write a small wrapper install application but this seems like a lot of over-head for what should be very simple.

Note that it does NOT need to be an official SdFinish dialog. A simple MessageBox with IFX_SDFINISH_MSG1 in it would be more than adequate.

Does anyone have a good solution / workaround that would suit my needs?

InstallShield LE installation aborts not accpeting my VS10 Premium.

I have Visual Studio 2010 Premium and with it comes InstallShield LE wich I must download. Today it has progressed to InstallShield 2015 and it clearly states supporting VS 2010 Premium. But when installing, the installation program states that I have to have VS 2010, 2012, 2013 or 2015 Professional Edition and just aborts????

I want my InstallShield!

EDIT: If I was not clear about it, I of course would some urgent help with this. How can I make the installation go through?

Win 10 : Warning 1946

Hi All,

I've got a weird issue on a few Win 10 test machines where I am getting a message box for "Warning 1946". The specific text is as follows :

Warning 1946. Property '{9F4C2855-9F79-4B39-A8D0-E1D42DE1D5F3}, 12' for shortcut '<shortcut name>' could not be set.

As I understand it, this issue was originally specific to Win 7 machines when an installer was trying to set a shortcut to "pin to win 8 start screen".

I have set the value for "Pin to Windows 8 Start Screen" to false on my shortcuts within the InstallShield IDE, but the issue persists.

What else can I do to ensure that this warning doesn't show up?

program to run a batch file that installs a windows service

I write a function, and want it to execute a batch file, which executes two commands to install and start a windows service. "A Basic MSI Project" is used in my case.

Here are the steps I did:
1) Go to "Installation Designer", select "Behavior and Logic", select "InstallScript", select "File" under "InstallScript"
2) Right click file in step 1 and select "New script file"
3) edit the new Script file as follows
4) Compile/Build/Run the installer.

I could not see the batch file gets executed. Obviously, some steps are missed here. Can any one tell me how to debug/search whether the script get executed or not ?
It would be helpful if there is an sample.

How to install a java based windows service using "Services View"

Hi

I have to install a java based windows service at the end of the installation. Currently I use a custom action to run a batch file to create the service. To create the service I use Apache Commons Daemon, prunsrv.exe, and as you may know I have to send command-line arguments to it. Actually the command which I put inside the batch file to create the service looks like the following:

I want to create the service using Services View instead of custom action to be able to use capabilities of Services View to start and stop the service and show the error message if the service couldn’t be started. How could I do this? I know that I have to create a component containing the myService.exe as the key file and create a service for this component but I don’t know how could I pass the command-line arguments to the executable file.

How to aknowledge error messages thrown by pre requsite.

Hi,

I am trying to install SAP crystal reports 2013 as one of the prerequisite. During installation of the redistributable the crystal reports installation throws weird messages like below. If I click ignore on this message window installation is successful and crystal reports works correctly. Apparently there is no solution for this problem which will work every time.

I think of one solution - Modify their package and remove registration of the specific DLL in question. But downside is this kind of error can occur for any other DLL's.
