I have an InstallScript MSI project that uninstalls correctly on some machines but not all machines. It is consistent in that working machines ALWAYS work and others NEVER work correctly. One folder in particular does not get deleted; others do. The folder is NOT 'Shared' and NOT 'Permanent'. So far the 2 offending machines are Server 2008R2. I have not seen it fail on Windows 8.1 or Server 2012R2, although the machine sample size is very small.
Originally I observed a known Microsoft problem wherein the Parent and Child folders did not have the same permissions, so even Windows Explorer popped up an error when I tried to delete the folder. I fixed the permissions so that they are inherited correctly, uninstalled, removed all remnants, and reinstalled. The folder is still not removed on uninstall, even though it can now be deleted with Windows Explorer.
The folder should get deleted on uninstall. I did a verbose log and it shows that the uninstall completed successfully. If there are any clues in there I don't see them. I don't have anything in the RemoveFiles folder.
Any help is appreciated.
